To celebrate the 160th anniversary at Palos Community
Consolidated District 118, our class is researching life in the 1840's.
The topic we chose was the stapler.
-
The inventor of the stapler was Samuel Slocum, with the partnership
of John Ireland House. Samuel Slocum's idea for his invention was one day,
when his house was a mess, he had an idea for puting all of his papers
together in on packet of papers. So he decided to make it happen, and it
worked.
-
Samuel Slocum invented the stapler for holding papers together
to make it more easier to hold paper together. In 1841 he patented
his idea of sticking pins in a paper to hold them together.
-
Samuel Slocum died in 1861.
Through out this project I found out that the credit for
the stapler invention was given to many different people. However, Samuel
Slocum seems to be the first.
