THE MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND INDUSTRY


 
 

The philanthropist-founder Julius Rosenwald built the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago Illinois in 1891 - 1893. It was reconstructed in 1920 - 1930 and had interior renovation in 1930 - 1941. The architects were Charles B. Atwood, Graham, Anderson Probst & White, Shaw, Naess & Murphy .It was designated a Chicago landmark on November 1, 1995. 


The museum has major exhibits on mining, automobiles, telecommunications, aviation and aeronautics, space travel, agriculture, and medicine. One of the most interesting thins to see at the museum is the frieze. It contains the names of many of the most influential scientific thinkers throughout history. Some people on the wall are: Edison, Fermi, Wöhler, Rumford, Roebling, Young, Ptolemy, Reed, Laplace, Frenel, Michelangelo, Huygens and Galileo. Some other exhibits they have are: The Coal Mine, International Space Station, Michael Jordan Exhibiting Greatness, Learning Labs, Tales from the Underground, Petroleum Planet, AIDS: The War Within, Animated Industrial Gears, Apollo 8 Command Module, Auto Gallery, The Chick Hatchery, Enterprise, Human Body Slices, IMAGING: Tools of Science, LEGO Mindstorms, The Lunar Module and many many more!
